In memory of William Duke Craig
Dear Friends,
It is with my deepest sorrow to inform you of the death of our friend and colleague, Duke Craig. 
Duke had major surgery Wednesday, March 14th that lasted over 9.5 hours. After his surgery, he never regained consciousness. He fought a valiant fight, but at the end, the complications were too many for him to overcome. The Carolinas Medical Center staff went above and beyond what was expected of them to try to save his life.
All of us at Felix Sabates’ Mercedes-Benz of South Charlotte feel a great void in our hearts and a very deep sorrow for his wife and children as well as for the rest of his family. Duke was a family man and a man of God; he lived a full life making everyone around him happy and always with a smile on his face. In almost 5 ½ years of association with him, I never ever heard an unkind word from him toward another person, which was a true reflection of his character and conviction.
We are going to miss our friend Duke. Please join all of us at Mercedes-Benz of South Charlotte in prayer, but also in celebration of the life of a great husband, father, family man and friend, William “Duke” Craig.
God be with him, his family and friends. I am sure by now he is looking down at all of us and saying words of encouragement for the ones left behind, especially his wife Angie and children. They were the most important part of his life.
Duke, you will always be in our hearts.

In the latest ranking by respected brand consultancy Interbrand Zintzmeyer & Lux, ‘Best Global Brands 2011’, the three-pointed star brand again took twelfth place – as it did last year – and is therefore the most valuable European brand. Its brand equity has risen to US$ 27.455 billion, an increase of 9 percent compared to 2010. The Mercedes-Benz brand equity has therefore risen continuously since 2009.
The study’s authors attribute this success to customer satisfaction with the brand, which is higher than that of all other automotive brands. What’s more, the model initiative launched two years ago is enabling Mercedes-Benz to successfully respond to the market’s demand for ground-breaking, sustainable transport solutions.
Interbrand conducts the ‘Best Global Brands’ study every year. Leading CEOs regard it as the benchmark for measuring the value of international brands. The study identifies the 100 most valuable brands in the world.

Mercedes-Benz Community Stars Dealers Give Back
In honor of their 125th anniversary, Mercedes-Benz, USA is awarding $125,000 in charitable donations across the country. Nominated by Felix Sabates’ Mercedes-Benz of South Charlotte, the Humane Society of Charlotte is one of 15 semi-finalists, as well as the only North Carolina non-profit, to reach the semi-finals. The Humane Society of Charlotte produced a :60 second video focusing on the organization’s HAVE A HEART fund and the need for more education and health care for animals with special medical needs.
With the contest underway now, Facebook users are asked to “like” the Mercedes-Benz, USA facebook page and then select “Community Stars”. We asked that you please vote for the Humane Society of Charlotte’s video submission on the HAVE A HEART fund. Each person is allowed to visit the page daily to vote and on October 21st, the videos receiving the top scores will be awarded $25,000 each. The winners will be posted on October 24th.
